CROSSING THE BAY OF BISCAY
The title of this post is enough to scare anyone. Everyone seems to tell you their horror stories of this crossing.
My plan was to get up and leave not too early (so Jilli would be awake) then put sails up and head as west as possible thro the day and then thro the night and then see where it would be best to head for. The plan worked very well we had 10-15 knots of wind and we had both sails up...
Another Port
SATURDAY Up at six as planned had to wake Jilli and the Frenchman. When he got up after quite a while he was fully dressed and already smoking a Gitane. The boat in front of us had already left so we got out very nicely doing a full 180 degree turn in very little room. no wind so we motored north to tip of island and then headed south to the entrance of the Gironde. jilli went back to sleep at...

The stayed with the boat for ten minutes. The fIrst of many I hope. We had a lovely salad lunch made by Jills and as everyone was...

Day One: Getting going
We’ve just finished the busiest week ever, packing up our house, taking carloads of stuff to the boat (who knew it was possible to have so much stuff?!), cleaning the house and saying goodbye to family, friends, and animals! Emotional at times but it seems as if all the pets are settled in very nicely.
Today (Sunday 4th July) was meant to be leaving day but sadly the English summer died on...
