Stormy night at sea
Thursday 30th September:- Marina Rubicon, Lanzarote - 28 51 5N 13 49 0W Trycha here Well we finally got away from Madeira on Monday morning. The nice people from Northshore managed to sort out the warranty for the windvane - I was called up to the marina office first at 10am to ask how everything was going, when I was waiting for a phone call. Then I was called up again at...

MONDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER WAITING
Hi everybody  TRYCHA calling.  It is nine on monday morning and we are still waiting to leave Maderia. As I think Alice explained we were kept in harbour due to a problem with warranty with our raymarine wind vane. On weds a man came and replaced the faulty one he had to go up the mast to do this! i had told him the boat was under warrenty and he did not ask for any money or discuss price at all....

Stuck in Madeira
Just to let you know we’re not leaving Madeira today - We went to pay for the marina to be given a bill for £700 from the raymarine man who fixed our windvane. As the equipment was still under warranty we didn’t want to pay this - however, the paperwork seems to be at Northshore, and seeing as its a Friday afternoon and everyone has gone home for the weekend, we have to wait until...

Tourists in Madeira
Wednesday 22nd - We drove past Funchal and up through the valley towards Sao Vincente. Along the way, we noticed everywhere the debris from the floods and mudslides last year - huge boulders in the road, houses either brand new and just rebuilt, or missing roofs and walls. We had lunch in Sao Vincente, described by the guidebook as ‘ridiculously pretty’ and thus a bit of a let down, especially...

Our first long trip
Alice here.. We set off from Lisbon mid-morning on Sunday, a beautiful day with barely any wind so, although we did try to sail, our complete lack of speed meant that we kept the engine on. Jilli was suffering extremely badly from sea sickness so spent most of the day asleep, I’d taken a sea-sickness tablet as a precaution that actually acted more as a sleeping pill - I was only awake for about...

Lisbon and our next adventure
10th September - Alice here We’ve just come to the end of a lovely week in Lisbon and the surrounding area, with three of Jilli’s friends from home. We were tight for space on the boat but all managed to fit in pretty effectively, with two in mum’s cabin, mum in Jilli’s cabin, and two in the main room (the table folds down to make a bed). The girls spent most of their...

A very late post.
Jills here.. Apologies for the time lag, with a lack of internet and numerous flights to book/plan/take, the blog has taken a back seat. But with some newly aquired stolen internet I hope to update you all. Arnt you the lucky ones… So we left you with Triple D all alone abandoned in Povoa de Varsim, Portugal and the 3 D’s themselves in Edinburgh and the Southbourne. Mum was back...
